Who are the Royal National Lifeboat Institution?
The RNLI are a charity that save lives at sea.
Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water and it's a problem that they are dedicated to tackling.
The charity consists of voluneer lifeboat crews and lifeguards. Since 1824, they have saved over 142,200 lives.
The RNLI are more than just a service as they influence, supervise and educate people too.
Their goals in 2019 are the following:
- progress towards a 50% reduction in drowning in the UK and Ireland
- declining trend in serious incidents
- firmly established drowning prevention coalition that advocates effectively for the global cause
