Steve first became involved in health and safety in 1986 whilst serving in the Army and over the following decade attended various courses to expand on his knowledge and experience in this area.
Following his discharge in 1997 he took the opportunity to move into a full time health and safety career.
Since 2000 he has worked in the housing sector starting within a local authorities housing department which later became a first round ALMO for which he set up the organisations entire safety management system from scratch. He then moved to a stock transfer housing association and for the past eight years he has worked in three of the G15 organisations (London’s largest housing associations).
He is currently Director of Safety at L&Q a regulated charitable housing association and one of the UK’s most successful independent social businesses. The L&Q Group houses around 250,000 people in more than 97,000 homes, primarily across London and the South East.
